Mike Tyson - Jake Paul press conference LIVE TODAY

Update narration

This is the first of two pre-fight press conferences with Tyson and Paul in the buildup to their July 20 fight. This one comes to us live from New York, at the iconic Apollo Theater in Harlem. The second press conference, taking place on May 16, will be held at the Texas Live sports bar in Arlington - less than a mile from AT&T Stadium, where the fight will be held.

Tyson hoping to set the tone for his return to the ring

It has been a long 19 years away from professional boxing for Mike Tyson, who was once the most feared boxer on the planet and reigned as the sport's undisputed heavyweight champion between 1987 and 1990. But Tyson last fought professionally in June 2005 - and, admittedly, in poor physical condition.

"Iron Mike" appears to be taking this bout a bit more seriously. Tyson has claimed to have sworn off sex and cannabis while adopting a diet centered on raw meat. Tyson has been working out in Las Vegas at a gym built by his wife, although concerns continue to swirl as to whether any of this is a good idea for the 57-year-old.

Brash Jake Paul casts doubt on whether Tyson can stop him

Paul, a former YouTube and Disney Channel star, is betting that his youth will be enough to overcome Tyson's experience and potential rust from so many years outside of the ring. The 27-year-old has fought only 10 times since taking up professional boxing in 2018 - but he's won nine of those bouts, with six knockouts.

Paul too has voiced concerns about Tyson's mental and physical state in the buildup to Monday's first press conference. He has stated that "rumors" have described Tyson as "not so chill" since his lifestyle changes, but fellow boxer Lennox Lewis - who defeated Tyson in a heavyweight title showdown in 2002 - believes Paul is in more danger than he realizes.

"If Jake Paul gets hit by one of those punches, he's going to feel it," Lewis said. "I know Jake Paul doesn't want to get hit. Tyson comes forward and he knows how to cut off the ring."
