According to the betting rules, the jackpot had to be removed from the pool before the TT dividend was declared on the two legs run.

This then allows the Jockey Club to benefit twice from the one jackpot, the size of which attracts much more money into the TT pool than usual and thus gives the Club two large commissions but only one payout - should the TT go off this afternoon.

But given the vested interests there is probably much more chance of Flying Colours winning than the betting rules being revised.

Flying Colours has to defy a 16-pound hike in the ratings to take his Class Five mile contest but it is possible to argue he remains well handicapped.

He won by fully 9.5 lengths last time from Unlimiteddimension in a Class Six event.

But time and time again, the dirt has proven to be a surface for specialists and prior to that wide-margin dirt win, Flying Colours had run on strongly into second in a dirt sprint when clearly finding the trip on the short side. The son of Take Your Partner has always worked well on the dirt, looking as if capable of winning in Class Four, never mind Class Six or Class Five.

He's just patently failed to get his act together on grass and, due to that, has tumbled down the ratings.

That free fall in the ratings is only now starting to be arrested and reversed due to his recent dirt win and dirt second, but it could well be that he fell so low that the handicapper may not yet have his measure on the dirt.

Nor is it as if he's struck a particularly strong Class Five race and leading jockey Eric Saint-Martin should be able to bounce him out and dictate terms from barrier one.

Musical Insight kept on well for third over 1,800 metres on the dirt last time and has to be some kind of danger. However, he is likely to get back as he habitually blows the start.

American Star has a good dirt record as does King's Premium who can go forward from barrier two and looks a definite quinella chance.

Elsewhere, Integrity looks far too good for them in the opening griffin race. He's worked on a par with last weekend's luckless griffin second Win Perfection and this is a much easier race.

Integrity's trainer Ivan Allan also introduces a potentially smart filly in Crystal Charm whose rating of 75 appeals as a winning mark in the eighth event.

Really Lucky could improve now he's back on grass and go well at big odds in the third.

Electronic Dragon looks a natural for the dirt in the fourth event while one of the youngsters Gagnant and Cool Strike is likely to win the fifth and they may just run the quinella.
