The rooms here are comparatively smaller; that said, the hotel makes the list with its attention to detail and service. There’s whimsical wallpaper behind the reception, where a simple name-card drop settles your check-in. The playful theme continues through the corridors and into your room, where you may find a colourful dream-catcher hanging over your bed. Visit the retro-themed gym even if you don’t feel like working out because some pretty Instagram shots await.

3. Hotel Vagabond
Entrepreneur and avid polo player Satinder Garcha donned his hotelier hat in September 2018 with the launched of the much-anticipated Hotel Vagabond, the first of four from the Garcha Hotels Collection.
The first luxury boutique hotel in Singapore with an artist in residence programme, it is located in the colourful historic neighbourhood of Kampong Glam. The 41-room property retains its original charm with its art deco facade, veranda and red shutters.

4. Lloyd’s Inn
True to its name, the 34-key, cottage-like boutique is a minimalist’s dream, with bleached walls and achromatic furniture. With clean architecture and austere decor that nods to nature, Lloyd’s Inn is the perfect place for a digital detox.
Every room comes with an outdoor bath or shower, or both, adding to the oasis vibe. Cleansed and need something to do? While the compound is void of bars or restaurants, shopping haven Orchard Road is just around the corner.

Upon check-in at the self-service stations (that come with passport scanners), Aura the robot will usher you to your room, and speeds over whenever you need a towel or more bottles of water. In the mornings, he’ll be there to guide you to breakfast, where a chef – also a robot – will cook your eggs, scrambled or sunny side-up.
Another highlight of M Social is its avant-garde loft-style rooms, given a visionary touch by renowned French designer Philippe Starck. The rooms also come with a smartphone with unlimited calls and data, along with a city guide.

6. Naumi Hotel Singapore
Decked in steel origami decor and an urban plant art installation, the corridors feature moving artwork and messages that welcome you to an expressive world: the hotel is home to an international art collection, featuring commissioned artworks such as Jonathan Adler’s hippo installations.
However, the biggest draws are the two suites: The Eden and Nirwana, a colourful and funky Andy Warhol-inspired set of rooms; and the Gabrielle & Camellia suite, decked in monochrome, inspired by none other than style icon and avid art collector Coco Chanel. Museums and galleries are just a stone’s throw away.

7. Six Senses Duxton
Although a far cry from the brand’s beachfront resorts, guests will still find this makes for a healing visit. Soundproof windows provide a peaceful stay, and yoga sessions are conducted in-house. There’s even an on-site Chinese medicine (TCM) physician and dispensary. Yellow Pot, the hotel’s only restaurant, offers contemporary Chinese cuisine and doubles as bar.

8. Six Senses Maxwell
A five-minute walk from Six Senses Duxton, this 138-room hotel occupies a colonial-style, 19th-century heritage building that received the Urban Redevelopment Authority Architectural Heritage Award. The restoration of the building was led by Parisian architect and designer Jacques Garcia, whose artistic portfolio spans properties such as Hotel Costes Paris, The NoMad New York City and L’oscar London.

Stand-out maroon windows, hot pink corridors and flaming red carpets will set ablaze the passion of any couple walking through the doors of The Scarlet in Singapore’s Chinatown. Located on the banks of the Singapore River on Robertson Quay, The Warehouse Hotel used to be, well, a warehouse for spices, and even housed a distillery at one point. The 37 rooms and suites each sports its own character, but we recommend the open-concept River View Suite that sits on the second floor, meaning you’ll have privacy, unlike those on the first floor that open to the public walkway.
